Day 25

The Svelte Wednesday food was ziplock omelettes. Crack 2 or 3 eggs into a ziplock sandwich bag. Add mushrooms, meat, and whatever other fixings you desire. Then seal the top and drop it isn’t not-quite-boiling water for 15-minutes, or so. It was nice to be able to participate again. But I declined the rice crispy treats for dessert. And thanks work folks for supporting me in my diet.

I think I have more energy through the afternoon and lunch seems to be carrying me through until dinner better. Still, I’m not quite ready to call this tiger’s blood. Sorry Charlie Sheen. I don’t see sleep feeling normal again for a while. But even on an interrupted short night I wasn’t dragging like I might have expected. Maybe this is bobcat’s blood.

  • Brekkie: ziplock omelettes
  • Almuerzo: leftover stew & salad
  • Bangohan: turkey burger sliders on eggplant “buns” with homemade ketchup

Day 18

No Sugar Ice Cream
No Sugar Ice Cream

Remember Mr. Ice Cream Cake? Today he brought sugar free ice cream. The ingredients were: cherries, bananas, vanilla, and almond milk. I know, I know, vanilla has sugar alcohols in it. Strike 1. Without looking at the carton, the almond milk probably had a forbidden ingredient. Strike 2. The no pancake rule probably applies in principle of not imitating foods that aren’t on plan. Strike 3. However, my heightened spider-senses picked up on his hopefulness that I could eat this round of ice cream. I think he felt a bit bad that I was left out last time. And furthermore, in the long term, any endorsement I can give that moves Fat Wednesday more toward Svelte Wednesday is a good thing. So on balance I decided to have a mini scoop. It was good, but I bet not as good as the cake was a couple weeks ago. There is no need to be a diet extremist. And, for the record, I’m not going back to Day 1 as the Whole30 rules stipulate.

As it turns out, the egg cups I brought for Svelte Wednesday were well received, but a side-note to the ice cream drama for the day.

We had much more success with our salmon cakes this time around. Thank you Sam’s Club for not cramming bones and scales with a side of fish into your salmon cans.

  • Breakfast: egg cups
  • Lunch: leftover soup
  • Dinner: salmon cakes
